Pantone 2022 Color of the Year - Compared to C-Lon Bead Cord Colors

Very Peri, the Pantone 2022 color of the year brings in blue for stability and calm, and combines with the more playful violet-red addition. All qualities we need more than ever to create a more resilient and stable platform for ourselves to navigate in an ever changing world.

Pantone describes this color as: "A dynamic periwinkle blue hue with vivifying violet red undertone blends the faithfulness and constancy of blue with the energy and excitement of red."

The year started with so many challenges already. The faith and hope in a better future provided by the blue color, and the added strength and energy of the red color addition are necessary ingredients when facing unprecedented uncertainty.

Very Peri combines blue with a purple, violet, red undertone. Blue represents both the sky and is associated with open spaces, freedom, intuition, imagination, inspiration, and sensitivity. Blue also represents meanings of depth, trust, loyalty, sincerity, wisdom, confidence, stability, faith, and intelligence.

Purple and Violet are often described as mysterious, spiritual, and imaginative. These colors, rarely found in nature, are viewed as rare and intriguing. They are also associated with royalty as the dye were very difficult to find and costly in easier times. Purple and violet combine the energy and strength of red color and the spirituality and integrity of blue.

Pantone Color of the Year... You are probably wondering why it matters when choosing cord and thread colors to make jewelry or sculptures or wall pieces. Actually it matters, especially if you plan to market and sell your work. The reason why is that from now on for about a year or two, more clothes will be made in this color, then everyone is also going to look for accessories with that color... 

When I was doing about 32 shows a year, I found that my West Coast customers looked for accessories in the Pantone Color of the Year about 1 to 2 years later, so you still have plenty of time to add this color to your collection. 

As to the C-Lon Bead Cord Colors, Periwinkle, Hyacinth and Persian Indigo represent different depth of this same hue. Pale Heather, Orchid, Amethyst, Violet, and Capri are good anologous colors to consider for shading and accenting Periwinkle, Hyacinth and Persian Indigo.
